Plant Machinery Inspections 

Duty holders are required to maintain equipment and keep records of maintenance, inspections and repairs. 

Plant machinery should be inspected at least annually under PUWER. Frequency should be determined by a a formal risk assessment.

Plant machinery used for lifting duties must undergo a statutory thorough examination every 12 months under LOLER. 

Equipment designed to lift people require statutory 6 monthly inspections. 

Lifting accessories - slings, strops, chains, beams, shackles - require 6 monthly inspections.
