Meet our Engineer Surveyor
High Weald Engineering Compliance Ltd (HWEC) was founded by Engineer Surveyor, Steve Murphy
Steve had a 20 year career in the RAF as an Mechanical Aircraft Technician, gaining many skills including primary structure repair and modification, hydraulic and fuel systems, inspection and repair etc. He also spent time in Quality Assurance, training planning and co-ordination, instructing, equipment management, amongst other roles.
Whilst serving on the Chinook Fleet and deploying overseas, Steve gained a First Class BEng degree, with Honours through the Open University.
Since leaving the service Steve worked within the SHEQ department of a local joinery and managed their ISO90001, ISO140001, FORS and FSC re-qualifications, as well as their quality, environmental and H&S policies.
He entered the inspection industry on 2019 with one of the largest insurance companies in the UK, where he built on his engineering knowledge and gained extensive experience on a wide variety of lifting and work equipment. He expanded his knowledge by becoming a competent person for inspection of playground and outdoor fitness equipment.
Steve examines a wide range of Lifting and Mechanical Plant, especially lifts and garage equipment, and is looking to further expand his inspection knowledge with Minor Pressure Systems. He is SAFed SS01 qualified, holds a current SAFed Health and Safety Passport, and is a registered for EngTech status with the Engineering Council and is seeking IEng status.
In his spare time Steve enjoys heading out with his teenage family to gigs, out taking photos, cycling and kayaking and generally spending time with them before they leave home. Steve helps out with the Armed Forces Bikers Veterans Charity and other local organisations.
